Arvin Tan’s previous cases surfaced after recent arrest

Arvin Tan, the man, chased by the police from Quezon City to Manila on Tuesday, made headlines in 2017.

In a report by Chino Gaston on GMA News “24 Oras” on Wednesday, it was found out that the police had previously pursued the suspect Arvin Tan in September 2017.

When he took a picture without permission while inside the police station, the incident happened in Manila, a witness to the death of hazing victim Horacio Castillo.

Tan escaped from the police at that moment but tracked down his house the next day.

The arrest was also reported where Tan was seen climbing on the house’s balcony to escape the police again.

He was previously charged with malicious mischief.

The Quezon City Police District wants to know what happened in the case and why he was released.

“Pinapunta ko na sa MPD sa Manila atsaka doon sa court nila kung anong naging status ng kaso, bakit siya na-release,” said QCPD Station 10 commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Alex Alberto said.

“Baka dahil doon sa pinapakita niya na PWD [person with disability] siya atsaka ‘yung sinasabi niya na may mental illness siya ganon. Ang nakaka-ano po dito ay kung talagang may ganoon ay hindi na na-isyuhan ng driver license,” the official added.

On Tuesday, police chased Tan after he fled when a motel complained to him of non -payment.

He faces charges of violating R.A. 10586 or Anti-Drunk Driving Law, damage to property, resisting arrest, disobedience to a person of authority, and estafa.

A sachet of suspected illegal drugs was also found in his vehicle, which has already been examined.

Tan is currently at Quirino Memorial Medical Center, but his family requested that he be transferred to another hospital.

Arvin Tan was also offered a Public Attorney’s Office or PAO lawyer, but he refused.

According to the  City Police District, the suspect checked into a motel on Timog Avenue on Tuesday.

But when he checked out, he looked for the motel manager and asked for P20,000.
