Some areas monitored due to high ICU utilization rate: DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) concern remains in some areas in the country, particularly those seen by the high intensive care unit (ICU) utilization rate due to COVID-19 cases.

Based on DOH data, Western Visayas, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen are the regions with high or not critical ICU utilization rates.

Such regions, including Eastern Visayas, are also considered high risk due to the high average daily attack rate.

According to the DOH, they have 19 areas being monitored due to high health care utilization and ICU utilization rates.

Of the 19, 9 had full or nearly full ICU beds:

If the NCR should have a target now, it is to return the number of cases per day to 380 or less than the number of recorded cases before the surge in March.

The whole country should now be proactive, especially with the threat of the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease COVID-19.

Even though 17 cases have been recorded in the country, there is still no visible spread in the communities.

It was first said that the Delta variant, which was first detected in India, was more contagious than the earlier Alpha and Beta variants.
