Aquino family to hold online Mass for PNoy’s 40 days

The family of late former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will hold an online Mass to mark PNoy’s 40 days.

“We’re having 40 Masses all over the Philippines for PNoy on his 40th day,” former Senator Bam Aquino said in an ANC interview.

The mass for Pnoy’s 40 days will be held on August 1. It is also the death anniversary of his mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

The mass to be presided by Father Manoling Francisco will be held online due to the threats of Delta variant in the National Capital Region.

Vice President Leni Robredo will also attend and deliver a message at the Mass. It will be followed by a candle-lighting ceremony.

The Mass for PNoy in other areas nationwide will be held either online or physically, depending on the quarantine restrictions.

The Aquino family will use Noynoy’s famous quote “Kayo ang Boss ko” as the theme for the commemoration.

“We used it as the theme for the 40th day commemoration, “Kayo ang boss ko” because napakarefreshing na may isang pinuno, pangulo na nagsasabing ‘Ang taumbayan ang boss ko. Ang taumbayan ang nasa ibabaw ko. Nandito ako para magsilbi para sa bayan.’ It’s so refreshing, six years after he stepped down kasi parang ibang iba talaga ang sitwasyon ngayon,” Bam said.

(We used “Kayo ang Boss Ko” as the theme for the 40th day commemoration because it is refreshing to remember a leader and a president who tells us that his countrymen are his bosses, that the welfare of his countrymen is the top priority. It’s so refreshing to hear it after six years since he stepped down because we are really in a different situation today.)

Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III died on June 24 at the Capitol Medical Center in  due to renal disease secondary to diabetes. He is 61-years-old.

In December 2019, Aquino was confined in the intensive care unit of Makati Medical Center. However, details about his confinement were not disclosed.
