Another minor shot dead in Cotabato

Another minor student was shot and killed this Thursday in Pikit, Cotabato.

In a report by GMA News “Saksi,” the new victim was said to be a 15-year-old boy.

The victim was just waiting in their store when the assailant shot him before escaping.

Authorities are still investigating who is behind the shooting.

Due to the consecutive shooting incidents in which minor students were the victims, local Pikit officials will meet on Friday.

Earlier, a 13-year-old student who was on his way home from school was shot and killed on Tuesday.

Based on the police report of the Pikit Municipal Police Station, it was said that the incident happened in Barangay Gli-gli, Cotabato this past Tuesday.

It is said that the victims were walking on the side of the irrigation lining when they were shot by the assailant, who immediately fled.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds in different parts of the body. His injured companion suffered a bullet wound in the arm, according to the police.

Another minor shot dead in Cotabato

In the investigation by the authorities at the scene of the crime, it was found that caliber 5.56 mm and caliber 7.62 mm guns were used by the assailant.

The police have a person of interest based on the testimony of the witnesses.

In a statement this Thursday, the Cotabato Provincial Police Office said that witnesses have identified the suspect.

The complaint to be filed against the suspect is being prepared.

In a statement this Wednesday, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos said that they are contacting National Security Adviser Eduardo Año and Department of National Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., to determine the identity of the assailant.

Abalos assigned Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. to lead such investigation into the case that he considers a heinous crime.

According to United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) school violence is “violence that occurs in the school setting and describes violent acts that disrupt learning and have a negative effect on students, schools, and the community.”
