Angel Locsin meets with Parlade over red-tagging issue

Angel Locsin met with Southern Luzon Command (SolCom) chief Lieutenant General Antonio  Jr. to discuss the red-tagging issue surrounding the actress and her sister Ella Colmenares.

Locsin’s lawyer Atty. Joji Alonso on Instagram posted this Saturday a photo of Locsin and Parlade together.

According to Alonso, the two parties have “discussed, threshed out, and cleared” the “issues that cropped up these past weeks,” including Parlade’s claims that Ella Colmenares is a member of the New People’s Army (NPA).

“In a meeting held today between AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) SoAngeuthern Luzon Command Chief Lt. General Antonio Parlade, Jr. and actress Angel Locsin, the issues that cropped up these past weeks including the allegations against her and her sister Angela ‘Ella’ Colmenares, were discussed, threshed out and cleared.

“Ms. Locsin expressly denounces violence and terrorism in any form and supports all efforts of the government to maintain the safety and protection of its citizens.

“For his part, Lt. General Parlade conveyed to Ms. Locsin his appreciation for her contribution to the AFP and her continuing advocacy to help the poor, impoverished, and the helpless.”

Angel Locsin meets with Parlade over red-tagging issue

During a senate hearing on red-tagging in early November, Parlade clarified that Angel Locsin was not an NPA member.

“I also mentioned Ella Colmenares because it’s really true that Ella is an NPA. I never said that Angel Locsin is an NPA,” Parlade told the Senate committee.

“Ang statement niya [Locsin], sinasabi niya na hindi raw siya NPA. I never said that she is an NPA. No, I never said that,” the SolCom chief said.

However, an alleged former rebel claimed that ’s sister, , was a member of the New People’s Army ().

“Gen Parlade is not lying. Ella Colmenares, the sister of Angel Locsin, was an NPA in Quezon, na-meet ko siya,” said Jeffrey Celis, aka , during the Senate hearing on the alleged  activities of military officials.

“Si Ella Colmenares, umalis ‘yan ‘di na siya mapipigilan so bumalik siya sa open mass movement pero CPP pa rin siya, she’s operating underground at alam ko nasa MAKIBAKA (Malayang Kilusan ng Bagong Kababaihan) siya sa Gabriela,” Celiz added.
