Allowing fully vaccinated inside malls, restaurants after Aug.20 pushed

According to an official, entrepreneurs are pushing to allow fully vaccinated individuals inside malls and restaurants after Aug. 20.

This is while awaiting the decision of the pandemic task force on whether to lower or maintain the enhanced community quarantine in Manila. As a result, the current quarantine classification in Metro Manila will end on August 20.

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion told TeleRadyo that many entrepreneurs are already complaining. Hence, they want to be given more mobility or freedom to move the vaccinated instead of implementing a lockdown again in the 4th quarter of the year.

This will only be done in Metro Manila, where all vaccines are focused.

“If we allow the vaccinated to go to the mall, to the restaurants, to the spa, then I think we can create some economic activity already by opening up these malls, spas, and restaurants ‘pag tapos na yung ECQ ano,” said Concepcion.

“Mangyayari ‘yan kapag sapat na ang bakuna natin dito at palagay ko hindi rin papayag ang IATF kung kulang pa ang bakuna natin,” he added.

Concepcion said it would not be recommended to lock down those who are not vaccinated. They will still be allowed to go out to work or go home.

He said more people could only be allowed in malls and restaurants when they have reached 90 percent of those vaccinated.

According to Concepcion, they have already talked to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra about this and are just waiting for the decision of the pandemic task force.

“Pero kung papasok sila sa ibang lugar, baka delikado yan ano. Baka mahawa sila. Nakikita natin itong Delta variant, talagang mabisa at mabilis mang-infect no.We have to protect the unvaccinated kasi talagang highly vulnerable at this time sila dahil sa Delta. Hopefully, by September-October, most of the LGUs will hit 60%. I think, at that point in time, ‘yung mga unvaccinated still should confine themselves from home to their workplace. ‘Yan ang importante muna,” said Concepcion.
