AirAsia has been named as the world’s best low-cost airline in the Skytrax World Airline Awards for the 11th consecutive year.
Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific also had cause for cheer when the awards were handed out at at the Paris International Air Show yesterday (Tuesday, June 18).
This year’s Skytrax awards were based on a survey of more than 21 million customers who reviewed some 300 airlines between September 2018 and May 2019.
“The fact that these awards are based on direct feedback is gratifying and wonderful recognition for the Allstars who put so much effort and commitment into service excellence for our guests,” AirAsia executive chairman Datuk Kamarudin Meranun said in a statement.
“It’s an honour to be recognised by Skytrax for the 11th consecutive year for our commitment to providing affordable travel and guest-obsessed service.”
AirAsia also bagged an award for the world’s best low-cost carrier premium cabin.
“We once again continue to be recognised as providing the World’s Best Low-Cost Carrier Premium Cabins on our long-haul flights. Today’s win represents nine years of being the world’s best in this category and is dedicated to our Allstars who have been steadfast in upholding our corporate culture, mission and vision,” said AirAsia chairman Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.
AirAsia not the only winner…
Also celebrating today is PAL, which was again named as the world’s most improved carrier in the Skytrax awards.
After scraping into the top 50 best airlines in the world last year, it has just been named the most improved in United Kingdom-based consultancy firm’s 2019 list.
PAL is now ranked 30th out of 100 airlines worldwide, a 19-point jump from its 49th spot last year.
Cebu Pacific, on the other, failed to reach the top 100 airlines list but acheived a ninth place in the list of the World’s Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airlines.
