5 cops involved in e-sabong agent abduction in Laguna charged

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group formally filed with the Department of Justice on Monday 30 afternoon charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention against five police officers and others in connection with the alleged forced abduction of Ricardo Lasco, a master agent of e-sabong in San Pablo, Laguna in August 2021.

Among those charged with Violation of Art. 267 of RPC (Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention) as follows:

  3. PLT Henry Sasaluya;
  4. PMSG Michael Claveria;
  5. Pat Regil Brosas;
  6. Several John Does

In addition, they were also charged with additional theft for allegedly stealing money, equipment, cellphones, and jewelry amounting to P700,000 from the victim’s house when he was abducted.

“Sinampahan po sila ng karagdagang kaso for robbery committed by a band dahil ang ating mga suspek dito ay more than 3 patungkol po ito sa sinabi na allegation ng pamilya ng biktima na kinuha po nila yung mga gamit may mga kasamang alahas worth P500,000 at meron pa po silang sinasabing kinuha sapilitan nitong mga nasabing pulis na amounting to P180,000 worth of money,” according to Police Col. Jean Fajardo, spokesman of the Philippine National Police.

The relatives of the victim, who were there when the incident happened, positively identified the said police officers.

“Positively identified po nung mga kaanak ng biktima itong mga pulis na nasasangkot dito dahil according to them yung iba ay nag-alis po ng facemask during po nung sila ay pinasok at nung pinakita po sa kanila yung mga litrato po ng mga pulis na ito ay na-identify po nila,” added Fajardo.

The police have been disarmed and under restrictive custody at the regional headquarters of Calabarzon while the case against them is being heard.

“In spite of repeated reminders po ng ating chief PNP ay may nasasangkot po tayo na ilang pulis sa iligal na gawain kagaya ng kasong ito, sinabi naman po ng ating chief pnp na kailan man ay hindi natin itotolerate ang gating gawain ng mga pulis at ia-apply po lahat ng ika nga kaso na pupwedeng iapply sa kanila,” said Fajardo.
