One of the three minors who jumped off the police mobile died in Cabanatuan City Tuesday night. The victims were picked up by the cops for allegedly violating the curfew.
According to Melanie Pascual Orpia, a cousin of the victims, one of the minors said they went to General Luna, Cabanatuan City, for a birthday party.
They were allegedly waiting for a tricycle on their way home to San Juan Accfa when two policemen passed by on patrol. They stopped and asked where they were going.
The victims responded that they were in San Juan Accfa, and the police said they had boarded the mobile and would be taken home. However, the three minors immediately boarded.
While on the trip, they allegedly noticed that the mobile had passed their barangay. The children panicked and asked the police where they would be taken.
“SIR SIR SAAN NYO PO KMI DADALIN SABI NG TATLONG KBTAAN,HABANG NGPPANIK,” said Orpia.
But the police told them to keep quiet or else they would be shot.
“AT ANG SAGOT NG DLWANG PULIS TUMAHIMIK KAYO AT PAGBAVARILIN KO KAYO,” said Orpia.
The minors were nervous and jumped from the police mobile. When the two policemen noticed they were no longer on board, they returned and found the children lying on the road. One is lifeless, and the other two are in critical condition.
The children jumped at the Banatu Box, just a few meters away from the Cabanatuan City Hall and Police Station, where curfew violators were usually taken.
The families of the victims are calling for justice for the children.
Police have not yet issued a statement about the incident.
