3 Philippine Air Force men killed in EDSA car accident

A car caught fire in the EDSA Cubao southbound lane, past the P. Tuazon tunnel, at 2 a.m. Friday.

Based on the preliminary investigation from PCpl Mark Anthony Rasay of the Cubao PNP, three men in the car were killed while one of the occupants survived. According to the survivor’s statement, they were all members of the Philippine Air Force.

They were from Quezon City and were about to work at Villamor Air Base when they collided with concrete barriers at EDSA.

According to PCpl Ralph Henry Miranda, who was one of the first to respond to the incident, the fire quickly engulfed the car, so they could not get close immediately.

The surviving man, who sustained injuries to his legs and arms, refused to appear in the media.

The victims’ names have not been released to the media, as their families have not been notified.

In July 2021, members of the military and Philippine Air Force also died after Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed after an attempted landing at Jolo Airport in Sulu, Philippines. With 53 deaths, of which 50 people were on the aircraft and three on the ground, the incident is the deadliest aviation accident in Philippine military history.


Man arrested for robbing two minors

After allegedly pretending to be a policeman in Taguig City Thursday, a man was arrested.

According to Southern Police District Director Police Brigadier General Jimili Macaraeg, the suspect was a 23-year-old seaman.

According to the report, the 2 minors were jogging along C-6 road around 7 am when the suspect stopped them on a motorcycle.

The accused allegedly introduced himself as a police officer and showed a photo wearing a uniform and holding a gun.

The seaman allegedly threatened the victims that a drug operation was being conducted in the area and that he was looking for people. At that point, the suspect demanded the victim’s cellphones.

The two victims immediately reported the matter to the authorities, and the suspect was arrested.

During the inspection conducted by the police, the victim’s cellphones were confiscated from the accused. In addition, a suspected high-explosive grenade was also found in the suspect’s motor compartment.

The suspect will face charges related to Robbery-Hold-up, Illegal Possession of High Explosives, and Violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
