Local absentee voting (LAV) for on-duty voters begins on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. The country’s national and local elections are on May 9.

Of that number, only 84,357 voters were allowed to avail of LAV.

The applications of 9,341 individuals were not approved because they were not registered or were deactivated from the voters’ list.

According to the Comelec, the LAV will last only three days or until April 29, 2022.

Local absentee voters will vote manually and can only vote for national positions, including the president, vice president, senator, and party list.

According to Comelec Commissioner George Garcia, the voting of military, police, and government personnel will be overseen by the head of their respective offices, who will distribute the ballot.

When they have finished voting, the ballots will be placed in an envelope to be collected by the office head and then sent to the Comelec Election Contests Adjudication Department (ECAD).
