28 Navotas employees tested positive for COVID

Navotas City Hall is currently locked down after 28 of its employees were charged with COVID-19.

The lockdown will last for 10 days and will be implemented starting at 12 a.m. Friday.

Apart from the city hall, the following will also be locked down starting today:

  1. Navotas City Hall
  2. Navotas City Library
  3. Navotas City Hall Annex (NavoServe)
  4. Bagumbayan Elementary School (DepEd Bldg. 1 & 2).

According to Executive Order 196 issued by the local government, it is forbidden to go to the said buildings. Therefore, the activities and transactions of the offices located here will also be temporarily suspended.

Employees who test negative for the swab test and those who usually work in the aforementioned buildings work from home first.

Apart from that, only the city human resources development office is allowed to have a skeleton workforce inside the city hall to arrange the salaries of employees and process the necessary contributions and remittances.

Those who tested positive for COVID-19 were isolated while contact tracing continued on their close contacts.

Meanwhile, the distribution of ECQ aid will continue.

It will be led by employees who tested negative in their most recent swab test.

In the meantime, the aid will be distributed to the following schools:

1. Neighborhood Elementary School
2. Lake Elementary School
3. Tanza HS
4. Tangos I Elementary School
5. San Jose Academy

Also, the offices located in other city government buildings will remain open and continue to serve.

Meanwhile, DOH Epidemiology Bureau Director Alethea De Guzman said the following regions are considered high-risk in COVID-19:

  • National Capital Region (NCR)
  • Calabarzon
  •  Valley
  • Central Luzon
  • Northern Mindanao
  • Cordillera Administrative Region
  • Ilocos Region
  • Western Visayas

According to De Guzman, 3 of the regions saw high bed and intensive care unit (ICU) utilization rates.

“What we’d like to flag are Region 4A, 3 and 2 (Calabarzon, Central Luzon at  Valley) kung saan parehong bed utilization nila ay high risk na at humihigit 80 percent ang kanilang ICU utilization rate,” she said.
