265 Chinese nationals arrested in illegal POGO

Authorities shut down an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) at a hotel in Las Piñas City on Thursday night.

According to authorities, operatives from the National Capital Region Police Office and Las Piñas City Police raided the hotel on Alabang-Zapote Road in Barangay Almanzo Uno after obtaining information that there was an illegal POGO operation in the area.

The 265 Chinese employed at the POGO were arrested. Police discovered the Chinese workers were not registered with the city’s Bureau of Permit and Licensing Office.

Police seized 110 laptop computers, 96 desktop computers, 467 cellular phones, and P6.5 million in cash from the POGO. Several foreign currency bills and gadgets were also recovered from the suspects.

The arrested Chinese nationals and seized evidence are now in the custody of the NCRPO at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City for investigation and filing a violation of Republic Act No. 11332 or the “Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases,” and Executive Order No. 112 of 2020.

Typhoon Ambo latest update

According to PAGASA severe weather bulletin issued at 05:00 pm, 15 May 2020, typhoon Ambo slightly weakens and is now approaching the Real-Infanta area in northern Luzon. 

At 4:00 pm today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “AMBO” was estimated based on all available data, including those from Daet Doppler Radar 40 km South of Infanta, Quezon (14.4 °N, 121.7 °E ).

It is moving Northwest at 20 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 140 km/h.
