2022 VP debates of SMNI canceled

FBI wanted Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to permanently cancel the scheduled 2022 vice presidential debates at his media outlet SMNI, which was supposed to take place on February 22. Meanwhile, there will be a “Round 2” of the presidential debate.

Quiboloy, founder and chair of Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), released the statement while speaking on his program “Powerline.”

“Because of public demand and public clamor, nabitin sila sa presidential debate, I’m sorry to say ika-cancel ko ‘yung vice-presidential debate,” said Quiboloy in the program, Wednesday.

“Ang vice president, pareho rin ang stand niya sa kanyang magiging presidente, ‘di ba?… Hindi na kailangan. So ‘yung slot natin for vice-presidential debate, kinansel ko na lang ‘yun para aking i-adjust doon sa main event na hinihingi ng tao: Second round of presidential debate.”

Quiboloy said the second debate of presidential bets would be held after the senatorial debates scheduled for March 2 and 3.

It was February 15 when the first SMNI presidential debates were held, which were attended by only four of the presidentials: former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Ka Leody de Guzman, former presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella and former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales.

“[B]ago matapos ang kampanya, mga ilang araw, ang final main event ng presidential debate. I hope na itong mga aspirants ay mag-a-attend lahat,” said Quiboloy, who was wanted in America for alleged sex trafficking of children. The Philippines has not yet received a request to extradite or file a case against the pastor in the US.

“Kung hindi [makapunta ang iba], kahit ‘yung apat na lang. Kasi gustong-gusto ng taumbayan na mapakinggan sila uli… Uhaw ang Pilipino sa isang intelligent platform, issue-based debates.”

Some of those who did not attend the previous presidential debate were Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Vice President Leni Robredo, Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

Quiboloy, President Rodrigo Duterte’s spiritual adviser, boasted of how “professional” and organized the previous debate was while clarifying that they told the candidates their microphone would be turned off if there were any commercials.
