The Department of Justice (DOJ) has recommended to the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to provide a reward for the arrest of two inmates who escaped from the maximum-security compound of New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Hours later, the pursuing authorities killed Bio and Adlawan while Ablas and Falcon escaped.

Falcon was found to be facing charges of double murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder, and robbery.

Both were sentenced to perpetual reclusion.

“I have also suggested to the BuCor to consider offering a monetary reward to any person who could provide information that would lead to a successful re-arrest of these fugitives,” said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.

Guevarra said it was challenging to find the fugitives because everyone was wearing a face mask now because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Each day that passes makes the task of recapturing these escapees more difficult. But the BuCor tracking team is relentlessly hunting them. They have coordinated with some LGUs and our Coast Guard,” the secretary said.

Despite this, Guevarra called on the fugitives to surrender.

“I am also calling on these escapees to voluntarily turn themselves in at the nearest police station because the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them, wherever they hide,” he said.
