Power supply throughout Occidental Mindoro restored

After a three-day power blackout in Occidental Mindoro, the Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (OMECO) confirmed that before noon on Monday, the power supplier Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative or OMCPC had restored power to the entire province.

On Saturday, OMCPC shut down operations after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) allegedly did not allow the extension of the transition period between OMCPC and OMECO.

But the ERC also ordered OMECO to take over the power supply to OMCPC based on three power supply agreements signed in January.

But the OMCPC did not comply because they allegedly did not have the legal authority and insisted that they would only restore the power supply if ordered by ERC Chairperson Atty. Agnes Devanedera.

On Monday morning on the “Kabayan” program on Teleradyo, Devanedera himself said that it was clear from their order that the OMCPC must abide by the new power supply agreements.

So before noon, the power supply is back.
