Two barangays in Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro, were isolated due to severe flooding brought on by bad weather, according to Mayor Meriam Quijano.
According to Quijano, the detour bridge in Barangay Lumang Bayan was washed out due to the intensity of the flood, causing the barangays of Dayap and Barahan to be isolated.
The floodwaters reached waist-high in some areas in Santa Cruz due to the incessant rains brought by the southwest monsoon.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the barangays of Alacaak, Barahan, Dayap, Poblacion 1, Poblacion 2, and San Vicente were flooded.
About 86 families or 361 individuals were affected by the floods. Some of them are in evacuation centers.
The local government is already preparing relief goods for the affected residents.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Fabian moves slowly west-southwestward while maintaining its strength, Pagasa reported on its severe weather bulletin.
The center of the eye of Typhoon “FABIAN” was estimated based on all available data at 525 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

It has maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 185 km/h, and central pressure of 955 hPa.
Fabian is unlikely to directly bring heavy rainfall in the country throughout the forecast period.
Under the influence of the Southwest Monsoon being enhanced by “FABIAN,” monsoon rains will be experienced in the next 24 hours over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, southern Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands.
Strong winds (strong breeze to near gale conditions) will be experienced over Batanes and Babuyan Islands throughout the passage of the typhoon. In addition, occasional gusty conditions will prevail over the rest of Luzon especially in coastal and mountainous areas due to Southwest Monsoon.
In the next 24 hours, under the influence of the enhanced Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Fabian, rough to very rough seas will be experienced over the northern, western, and eastern seaboards of Luzon (including the areas under TCWS #1).
