14-year-old girl killed inside her house in Caloocan

A 14-year-old girl was found in bed at their home in Pangarap Village, Caloocan City, with a stab wound to the neck, hands and feet tied, and no undergarment. Police suspect the victim was also raped.

Mai Bermudez reported on GMA news “Saksi” on Tuesday that the victim, identified as Garlene Teria, was lying on the bed when her mother came home from work at 6:00 p.m.

Their neighbor Diomedes Liamez, who is still wanted, is a crime suspect.

The victim’s mother, Mary Jean, said she had fought the suspect several times. One of these is the suspect’s accusation against the mother as positive for coronavirus disease 2019.

“Sumisilip pala diyan sa bintana nila na sinisilip niya kung anong pinag-uusapan namin. Ang isip niya, siya ang pinagkwe-kwentuhan. Madalas ganon ang pinag -awayan namin. Pero kung tutuusin siya talaga ‘yung gumagawa ng paraan para mag-away kami,” said Mary Jean.

(He was peeking out of their window and listening to what we were talking about. In his mind, he was the one being talked about. We often quarreled about that. But in fact, he is the one who makes way for us to fight.)

The victim’s aunt was devastated about what was done to her niece.

“Sana naman makonsensya siya dahil wala naman kasalanan ‘yung bata sa kaniya, walang kasalanan ‘yung bata sa kaniya. Bakit niya ginawa ‘yun,” cried Susie Dongoya, the victim’s aunt.

(I hope he feels guilty because the child did not do anything against him. Why did he do that.)

The victim’s remains will be subjected to an autopsy, Caloocan police said.

‘Chill ka lang:’ Cayetano advises Poe who warned ‘chilling effect’ in the media

“Chill ka lang.” This is the advice of Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano to Senator Grace Poe after the latter said that the House Committee on Legislative Franchises’ decision to cancel the franchise of ABS-CBN Corporation has a “chilling effect” on the media organization.

“It is precisely the precedent we want to make – that the House of Representatives will never tolerate anyone, including oligarchs, who will abuse the system and cheat both the government and our people. So that this is clear, I ask that she please read the Committee’s findings and the decision,” he said.

“The only chilling effect the denial has are on those who would abuse the system and hold cavalier attitudes towards our laws, and even the Philippine Constitution,” Cayetano added.
