12-year-old girl looking for signal raped, killed in Quezon

A 12-year-old girl looking for a phone signal to talk to her teacher was killed after being raped by a 35-year-old man in San Narciso town, Quezon.

According to a report by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) -Quezon on Tuesday, Allan Mendeja surrendered to their office and admitted that he and not his father who raped and killed Bheanne Banico on November 20.

After the body of the child was found in Bgy. Punta, San Narciso, police arrested Allan’s father Artemio Mendeja, 66, a farmer and fisherman. He was charged with rape with homicide.

But a few days later, Allan came out to say that he was responsible for the crime.

“Ako po ang salarin, hindi si tatay,” Allan said when asked by NBI agent Ferdinand Dagdag, who is in charge of the case.

Allan also surrendered the bolo he allegedly used to hack Banico as well as the child’s missing cellular phone.

Vicente Banico, 65, the victim’s grandfather, said that his grandson left the house around 6:30 am on November 20 to find a place with a cellular phone signal. Bheanne, a Grade 7 student, allegedly had something to ask her teacher.

“Nagpaalam po siya na pupunta lang doon sa lugar na may signal ang cell phone dahil kailangan niyang mag text sa kanyang teacher. Pero 8 a.m. na ay hindi pa siya bumabalik kaya sinundan ko na siya para hanapin,” according to the child’s grandfather.

According to Vicente, he found Bheanne’s lifeless body with deep wounds on her neck around 8 am.

During the follow-up operation of the San Narciso Police Station, several witnesses pointed out Artemio as the culprit. He also had bloodstains on his body and pants, which led to his arrest by the police.

But then Allan came out to admit that he was the real culprit. The suspect was left by his wife for another man.

In his sworn statement to NBI-Quezon, Allan said he saw Bheanne in the mountains. He approached her, punched her in the stomach which caused the victim to faint.
