10-year-old accidentally shoots dead 7-year-old playmate

A single mom who is an overseas Filipino worker is deeply saddened by the fate of her seven-year-old son, who died after being accidentally shot by his 10-year-old friend in Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur.

In a report by Kent Abrigana on GMA Regional TV’s “One Mindanao” this Friday, it was said that the tragedy happened at a farm in Barangay Astorga on January 27.

Based on the police investigation, said Sta. Cruz Police Station Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Kristopher Sabsal, that the two were playing when the older boy saw a gun that he thought was a toy.

“To his curiosity sa katong bata nga suspek, iyang gikuha ang pusil ug gi-aim sa iyang kadula nga biktima kay nagtuo siya usa lang to nga toy gun,” said Sabsal.

The gun went off, and the victim, Gabriel Jay Cabisa, received a bullet wound in the chest, causing his death.

On social media, Gabriel’s grieving mother, Mery Joy Flores, posted that she also could not return home to the Philippines due to lack of money.

According to the police, the two families have talked, and the victim’s camp will not file a case.

The remains of the victim have been brought home to Magpet, Cotabato, while the child who was shot is under the care of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) to undergo counseling.

Man stabbed to death in Manila

A man died after he was stabbed by another man whom he caught and fought in Tondo, Manila. The arrested suspect denied stabbing the victim.

In Darlene Cay’s report in Unang Balita this Thursday, the CCTV was shot in Sta. Catalina Street, Barangay 102, past 7 p.m., where the victim, Ronaldo Hipolito, and the suspect, Jonathan Ferrer, chased each other.

Hipolito fell when Ferrer stabbed him.

According to Police Captain Jayson Viola, Chief of Investigation and Intelligence of the Raxabago Police Station, the suspect asked the victim, but the suspect did not like her answer, so they argued and fought.

When the victim was lying down, the suspect went home before returning to the scene of the incident and stabbing the victim.
