Although herbivorous by nature, the hippopotamus is considered to be the most dangerous mammal in Africa, killing more humans than any other African land species. It is believed that they kill around 3,000 people annually. A hippopotamus is a territorial animal and very aggressive.

It weighs approximately 3,399 lbs. and has sharp teeth. They are aggressive in and out of the water. On land, they can reach a speed of over 20 miles per hour. In water, they are graceful swimmers and can hold their breath underwater for up to five minutes.

The great white shark is the most dangerous creature swimming alongside the shores of Africa. They are responsible for the most fatal attacks on humans on the African coastline. The shark charges its prey, takes one chunk out of it, and then drags the victim underwater.
