Mayor Joy Belmonte condemns killing of Gwenn Salamida

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte condemened the killing of former journalist and salon owner Gwenn Salamida.

“Ms. Salamida was a beloved member of the media, an honest business owner, and an upstanding QCitizen. We fervently condemn her brutal murder,” Belmonte said.

Salamida’s partner, Oliver Perona, survived the attack and is recovering at the Quezon City General Hospital.

“Ginagawa rin po ng ating mga doktor ang kanilang makakaya upang mapabuti ang kalagayan ni Mr. Perona (Our doctors are doing their best to improve the condition of Mr. Perona),” she said.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD)-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit already concluded its initial investigation, the mayor said.

“On behalf of the Quezon City Government and the QCPD, we would like to assure the victims’ respective families that we will be applying the full power of the law to hunt down the perpetrator of this heinous crime, so that justice will be swift and immediate,” she said.

Meanwhile, police have eliminated the holdup angle in the shooting and murder of Gwenn Salamida, the former editor of Remate Online, who was killed inside her Salon and Spa in Brgy. Apolonio Samson, Quezon City.

It appeared in the narrative of a Grab food delivery rider, who has not been named for its protection that no holdup occurred in the incident.

According to the delivery rider, he was delivering the food ordered by the victims when he was suddenly accompanied into the  by a man armed with an unknown caliber gun and immediately shot the victims.

Based on the report released by P/Maj Loreto P Tigno, deputy chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District (CIDU-QCPD), it appears that Gwenn Salamida sustained four bullet wounds to the back of the ear, head, elbow, and right shoulder, resulting in her immediate death.

It was learned that Gwenn Salamida was supposed to celebrate her  this Wednesday and would only dye her hair, so she went to the parlor.
