A 16-year-old girl was shot dead in her home in Iloilo, Monday, November 4.
Noemi Mana-ay was in her kitchen in Mandurriao when an unidentified suspect shot her.
Her mother was just shocked when she found the victim lying down with a gunshot wound in her right shoulder.
“Paglapit ko sa kanya, sabi niya, ‘Ma, tulungan mo ako, Ma’,” said Maurita Mana-ay.
(As I approached her, she said, ‘Mom, help me, Ma’)
Naomi was rushed to the hospital but later died.
Mandurriao Police are looking at revenge as the motive for the crime.
According to police, Naomi’s father was currently in prison for murder three years ago.
Maurita fears that other members of her family may be the next victims of the relatives of the person her husband killed.
“Wala akong kaaway dito, sir. Iyan lang. Sila lang naman. Sila talaga ‘yan,” Maurita said.
(I have no enemy here, sir. It’s only them. They did it.)
But according to the Mandurriao Police station commander in Iloilo, they have yet to confirm these speculations.
“Hindi pa natin ma-conclude kasi person of interest pa lang. Kung titingnan natin, basta parang bumaril lang siya. Ito lang ang pagbabasehan natin kasi parang wala siyang pinili. Iisipin mo kasi, minor,” said Police Major Marlon Valencia.
(We can’t conclude because it’s a person of interest just yet. If we look at it, it’s like he just fired shot. This is our only basis because it seemed he did not choose any target. Think of it; she’s a minor.)
